few weeks ago, i took a train and went to
Pekalongan for 4 days. The city is 5 hours away. i feel honored to be one of the speakers at DECODING BATIK WORKSHOP. yippee! it was fun and i met new friends. they gave me so much information about batik and their city.
here are some of the things they told me:
- New Canting cap cost 500.000 idr - 800.000. they will make it special just for you. we can bring our own design.
- Second hand canting cap cost 300.000 idr [$30] - 500.000 idr [$50].
- Semi batik tulis cost 150.000 idr - 300.000. we can also bring our own design.
- Tailor cost only 10.000 idr [$1] to make one dress!
- what's more?! They have clothes factory. Manufacturing our clothes can cut down the production cost by A LOT. In Pekalongan, it cost 3000 idr / clothes.
